SPECIAL EARTH DAY Q&A

 HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!

Habitat Helpers is so glad to showcase our second interview with Dr. Martin, who specializes in all kinds of science, and has also inspired younger generations to do the same and save the earth. Here is the video down below:

We hope you enjoy this video and continue to save the Earth. Remember, one action every day, such as reusing materials, cleaning up trash, and even spreading awareness about environmental issues, helps make a change in the environment. We hope for you to carry on the mission of people like Dr. Martin, Habitat Helpers (us), and countless other scientists and environmental activists. Remember, every small action you take could help save the environment and our home, the earth.

FACT OF THE DAY - 4/5/26

Bhutan is the only country that is carbon-negative. Here's an explanation:

Carbon-positive [most of the world] - Puts more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than their nature can soak up. [unhealthy]

Carbon-neutral - the perfect balance of soaking up carbon dioxide and putting it into the atmosphere

Carbon-negative - Soaks up more carbon dioxide than produces it. This means that their nature is very healthy and massive. They are cleaning the air for the rest of the world.

The reason why is in their constitution, where it is stated that 60% of the land should be forested[with forests].

FACT OF THE DAY - 4/4/26

Did you know that trees can communicate to one another using the the "Wood Wide Web" of fungi/fungal networks? They send chemical signals to one another to warn neighbors of danger, share nutrients, and support offspring.

NATURE AROUND US - EPISODE TWO

Hello! Welcome to the second episode of this series! Today, we are going to explore nature festivals in Japan! We did one festival for each season, so sadly we couldn't feature all of them. Japan has a unique and beautiful way of celebrating nature, so let's explore these jaw-dropping festivals! Prepare to be stunned, as some of the scenes I saw were SURREAL!

Also, please prepare for Earth Day! Let's do our best to protect our home!

[Note: my pronunciation isn't the best, as I am not a native Japanese, so please do not mind]

NATURE AROUND US - EPISODE ONE

Hello! As our duty to spread awareness, and as naturalists, we decided, after our hiatus, instead of starting off with videos about environmental issues, to add some videos about nature around the world! Today, we explore South Korea, a country full of rich culture, and dive into Korean to learn how they describe nature!

Also, please prepare for Earth Day! Let's do our best to protect our home!

FACT OF THE DAY - 4/3/26

This is Rafflesia! Rafflesia is the world's largest individual flower, which can grow over 3 feet wide! It's known as a "corpse flower" due to its rotting flesh odor, and, sadly, ENDANGERED.

How can we protect Rafflesia?

One way to protect Rafflesia includes designating its habitats as protected areas! Lets get together as a community and support this endangered flower to help it thrive and raise enough money/petition to protect Rafflesia!

Also, people in places like Indonesia are developing techniques for Rafflesia to grow outside of its habitat! [If you want to learn more about this research then check out this article by University of Oxford: link ]

Why do we need to protect Rafflesia?

It is the world's largest flower, so it plays a huge role in balancing ecosystems and protects its surrounding habitat, including endangered species like the Sumatran tiger. It is also crucial for scientists to study plant evolution, which is how plants grew/evolved over the years. It is also a source of regional pride and is used in Indonesian culture. Also, Rafflesia is used in medicine!

I hope we can work together to make it a safer space for Rafflesia! See you tomorrow!
